Bali Day 3 - Ubud

Last week Bali was struck by 6.2 magnitude earthquake. So glad we had come back to Malaysia. The earthquake was strong enough to make people ran from hotels and cause building to crack. However no buildings were found collapse simply because there are no tall buildings. According to Deva the government won't allow buildings to be built higher than coconut trees.

Back to my Bali trip. We woke up at 4:30 ready to see dolphin in the sea. According to Deva if the sea was calm we had high chance to see the Dolphins. He said not to come in March because the sea would be rough and slim chance of seeing Dolphins. We rode on ukong, a modified small boat with engine that can take max 5 persons per trip. We were really lucky because we managed to see the dolphins, not 1 but more than 10 of them hopping around us.

The fact was the poor dolphins are chased by 50 ukong every early morning. Deva said these creatures were in a rush to swim towards the west from the east. The trip was satisfying
although we were all wet all over.

We did a soft tracking in the spectacular GitGit Waterfall before going to the cooling lake temple.

Next we went to lake temple.
We had buffet lunch in Restaurant Saranam which was located on the hillside overlooking the beautiful paddy field terrace.

Next we visited Tanah Lot Temple by the sea.

The sun was scorching hot and I felt myself like roasted pig, forgot to put on the sun block and fully exposed our body to the UV, took plenty of nice shots especially with the temple as background.

It was low tide, we managed to walk at the bottom of the cliff to see the noisy and nerve racking tiny bats and there were 1000 of them.

Deva is so nice he brought us to see Ketut Liyer, the part time actor acted in Julia Robert's movie EAT PRAY LOVE. He played the role of himself as astrologer. He is 96 and still look healthy and clear minded.

Dinner was the famous bebek (crispy duck) in the Padi Prada restaurant overseeing the paddy field.

We strolled on the street of ubud around 9pm and I personally felt safe as the local people are friendly. We had another dinner Pork Ribs (highly recommended) and Bali coffee (highly not recommended because it is too bitter).
