The organizer even arranges shuttle vans to fetch you from your carpark to the venue. For this event, Sime Darby features a prize purse of US$1.8m as compared to CIMB prize purse of US$6m.
The cloudy weather is just nice for us to expose completely on the open space. The game starts at 8am and I can see lots of Koreans and Japanese visitors arrived the place. This is because the invited golfers are mostly from Korea and Japan. The organiser said world number 1 Ai Miyazato from Japan, along with Shin Jiyai from South Korea, Yani Tseng from Taiwan and Suzann Pettersen from Norway who are currently placed third, fourth and fifth in the woman's world golf ranking participated on the tournament.
Though American Korean Michelle Wie is not world no.1 but probably she has the biggest following over the weekend and the 21 year old even has a bodyguard in tow as she walks off the greens to prevent any untoward incident.
My mission of the day is to win the stunning and life changing ISOLA - "Hole in One" Charity Challenge, a condominium that worth RM600k.
The condominium is an offer to any person who shoots the shot of a lifetime on the par three 15th hole on the KLGCC's west course. I am not a golfer myself and trust me it is not as easy as I thought even to hit at the ball. I make a few clumsy swings just managed to send the ball in a straight direction of less than 100 meter away. I didn't win anything, not even a towel (BL won it). When I go home can only only feel the muscles pain in both hands
After the challenge, we go to see how other contestants are swinging. Below are some pictures of the 19 holes the contestants will need to birdie.
Definition of Par (golf.about.com): Par is the number of strokes an expert golfer is expected to need to complete an individual hole, or all the holes on a golf course. The value assigned to represent par for an indivisual hole is always comprised of two putts and the number of strokes it should take to reach the green. Holes typically are listed as par-3, par-4 and par-5, although par-6 is also ocassionally encountered. A par-4 hole is going to be longer than par-4 and par-5, although par-5 longer than a par-4 (with rare exceptions). On a par-3, an expert golfer is expected to need only one stroke to reach the green, followed by two putts. On par-4, he should need two strokes to reach the green, followed by two putts; and so on. For 18 holes of golf, the par is the total number of strokes an expert golfer is expected to complete the course. Most full size golf courses range from pars of 69 to 74, with par-70, par-71 and par-72 courses most common.
The unexpected winner is Kang Jimin, 30 this years from South Korean, takes home a prize purse of USD$270k. She made a 12 foot birdie putt on the par-4 18th for a -6 under 65 and a -9 under total.
